GENEVA HIGH SCHOOL INTERACT CLUB RUNS GENEVA ROTARY CLUB MEETING

Published by Kerry Lippincott on

Every year Geneva High School Interact Club students run a Geneva Rotary Club meeting. Interact is the high school version of Rotary. This year, it took place June 2. Club officers Secretary Jenna Kafrawi, Vice President Taylor Champlin and President Emily McFadden (pictured above) were presented with Rotary International Club of Distinction citations for achieving goals such as membership, leadership development and service projects.

During the school year, Interact members raise money to donate to local causes. Among the Club’s fund-raising activities for 2020-21 was a Super Bowl bottle and can drive. This year, the Club gave $400 for the Community Lunch Program. President McFadden presented the check to Bill Lamb, director of services for Catholic Charities of the Finger Lakes. Service work during the year included several clean-up projects, assembling Thanksgiving dinner boxes and Salvation Army Christmas bell ringing.

For the meeting’s program, various students talked about the effects of COVID-19 on high school academics, athletics and activities.
