Why Join Rotary?
There are many reasons to get involved in Rotary.
First and foremost, the Geneva Rotary Club is all about fellowship and doing good works. We enjoy each other’s company, and we enjoy working together to benefit the community. We have a variety of speakers for our meetings, where we organize our community service projects.
Second our motto is “Service Above Self,” and we take it seriously. Rotary service takes many forms, from helping fellow Rotarians to helping the community. And we use the Rotary Four Way Test as a guide for all our actions.

Geneva Rotary President Wants to Buy You Coffee — No Strings Attached

Geneva Rotary Club President Ethan Fogg has a simple pitch for anyone curious about joining: come have a free cup of coffee and ask whatever you want. No commitment, no sales pitch — just conversation at the lakefront.
Fogg joined the FLX Morning Podcast to talk about “The Coffee Table,” a monthly informal meetup he launched this past summer to lower the barrier for prospective members. The gatherings take place on the third Thursday of each month at 10 a.m. at the Geneva Welcome Center on the west shore of Seneca Lake. The next one falls on Thursday, September 17.
“The coffee’s on us. The questions are on you,” Fogg said. He encourages attendees to come curious — whether they’re longtime Geneva residents, recent retirees who’ve relocated to the Finger Lakes, or even visitors passing through. Rotary’s reach, he noted, extends well beyond local membership: the club is part of Rotary International and contributes to regional efforts including a summer camp for children with disabilities, a college scholarship program, and support for food cupboards and the public library.
Fogg was candid about one of the most common hesitations people have about joining a service organization — the fear of being overcommitted. He said the Geneva club is deliberate about respecting that no two members’ lives look alike. Some members chair major fundraisers; others sell tickets, share stories, or support a single project they care about deeply. “There’s no right or wrong way to be helpful,” he said. The club holds its regular weekly meetings at Dana’s Time Out on Hamilton Street in Geneva.
